I moved to Pittsburgh six years ago.
It feels like I’ve been here forever now, and yet it was the summer after college (2011) when I packed up my car and moved my things to the “big city.”
We’ve had our ups and downs. Pittsburgh saw me through three boyfriends, to one husband, into five apartments. It’s been a pleasure figuring out who I am in this place, and I can’t wait to figure out how to be a mom here.
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by an artist, Jennifer, from Modern Map Art who asked if I wanted a print of my city to review here on the blog. We already have a massive photo of Pittsburgh in our living room, but the print was too sleek to pass up! A minimalist style with just the basic bones of the city, it looks amazing in our bright living room. I went with the black and white print in size 24×36 and framed it in a simple frame from Michael’s.
(The smallest size is an 8×10, a perfect size for the office or a gallery wall!)
I’m still getting used to decorating an “adult” apartment with art, photography and furniture not from Ikea, but I think that the print really adds a classy touch to our most lived-in space!
So, what makes me love Pittsburgh enough to cover nearly every wall in my apartment with it?
Fellow Burghers, what do you love most about our city of bridges?
